Spanish street corners offer these hand-painted tile signs. Many of these are little works of the tile-painter's art. Photographs were taken in Madrid, Valencia, and Toledo.
This numeral 14 is set in a rich garden of painted flowers. The diagonal stroke of the 4 extends high over the base. The capital E itself displays a friendly curving mid-stroke.
This is my favorite ceramic sign, for its creative letter joins and spacing. Size, about 8".
